How does a Hypocycloid Straight-Line Mechanism Work?
This is a flash animation of hypocycloid Straight-line Mechanism.
A point on the circumference of a circle rolling on the inside of another circle
generates curves called hypocycloids. When the diameter of the rolling circle is
one half that of the outer circle the curve traced by a point on the circumference
of smaller circle is an exact straight line. This principle is used to design a
planetary gear pair that when rotated by a crank in the rear it moves the slider
in a vertical motion.

Your job is great, I learn a lot from you, thanks! I've got a question. Is there any mechanism so that I can convert say a 90-130 degree rotation to linear movement parallel to the axis of rotation for about 3cm (like a screw)?
Add a comment or brief description of this mechanism in your language.
